BACKSTOP FAQs
Are your backstops a safety backdrop or a target?
They are a safety backdrop made to catch errant shots without letting them hit the ground.
What kind of arrows and tips can be stopped by your backstop?
All kinds of arrows and any non-blade practice field tip. Our backstop has been tested to 370 fps. The arrow will go through the backstop about half way, so be sure to hang the backstop at least the length of your arrow away from any walls, fences, etc. The diameter of the practice tip should be no greater than that of the arrow. The backstops are designed to stop just about every kind of bow made; however, the crossbow is stronger than a regular bow, so customers would have to special order the HD backstop to use with a crossbow.
How do these hang, according to the dimensions?
The first number is the height and the second number is the length. Examples, the 4×6 is going to hang 4 foot high, by 6 foot long (horizontal). The 6×8 is going to hang 6 foot high, by 8 foot long (horizontal). If you would like these to hang vertical (4 foot long, by 6 foot high), you need to call in your order for customizing purposes.
How long does it take to ship?
All standard orders should ship within 7 business days. They are shipped UPS ground unless otherwise specified. Custom orders may take up to 2 weeks before shipping.
How will it stand up to the weather?
Officially we ask that you store it indoors, especially in rainy weather. When wet they may not stop arrows. Water generally runs through them but they should be allowed to dry for 12 hours or so. As far as the sun UV Rays, they will likely fade and eventually get ugly but should perform well. Some climates may dry out the fabrics and cause tearing if left in the sun.
How long will they last?
Judging by the testing we have done on these we have found that it is simply a matter of how many times you hit them. If you see more than 10 to 15 holes in a certain 1 square foot area or you have an arrow go in up to the fletching you should rotate the way you have it hanging. If you get to a point where the whole thing is covered with holes you can fold it in half and you should be good again for a long time.
What are they made of?
They are made of multi-layered recycled soft fibers positioned in such a way that they stop the arrows energy kind of like a bullet-proof vest. This is covered with industrial felt with fabric web loops around the perimeter.
How much do the backstops weigh?
They weigh approximately 1 1/2 pounds per square foot. The HD weighs approximately 2-1/2 pounds per square foot.
